The council was asked to adopt Resolution No. 26-5904, which adopts the Self-Storage Specific Plan. The same resolution amends the General Plan Land Use Diagram to designate the subject parcels as "Industrial - Specific Plan (I-SP)" and approves the Major Site Plan Review. agenda
It was also asked to introduce Ordinance No. 26-1092 for first reading by title only. Under new business, the council was asked to introduce Ordinance No. 26-1093 for first reading by title only. It amends Section 2-1-2 "Expenses and Compensation" of the Temple City Municipal Code. DEVELOPMENT WATCH
Alhambra: self-storage at 3001 West Mission Road
The Planning Commission was asked on Monday to adopt a resolution recommending that the City Council approve a conditional use permit and a development agreement for the site. (agenda)
The agenda describes it as an application "to demolish an existing industrial warehouse building and construct a new 146,352 square foot, 4-story self-storage facility with a management office, flexible community/retail space, community plaza, and other site improvements on an existing industrial site within the I (Industrial) zone district." (agenda)
The same agenda had a conditional use permit for the 7-Eleven at 1723 West Main Street. It asks to upgrade an existing Type 20 ABC license to a Type 21 license, "to allow the sale of packaged beer, wine, and distilled spirits for off-site consumption." The commission was asked to adopt a resolution approving it. (agenda)
Alhambra: stop-sign reviews on Grand, Granada and Hellman
The Transportation Commission met Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. It was asked to review two engineering reports with the City Traffic Engineer and "provide direction." (agenda)
On Grand and Granada avenues, the report says the intersection "does not qualify for installation of an All-Way Control." It lists replacing damaged or faded stop signs, adding "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" plaques, and installing 20 feet of red curb at the southeast corner. (packet)
On Hellman Avenue, the report says the intersection of Hellman and Olive/Hathaway avenues "does not qualify for the installation of an All-Way Stop." It lists a replacement speed limit sign, "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" signs and "30" MPH pavement markings. (packet)
These are recommendations in a packet, not decisions.
San Gabriel Unified: Planned Parenthood MOU
The Governing Board met Tuesday. Its agenda item 8.B.3 was to "Approve the MOU with Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley Inc. for the 2026-27 School Year." (agenda)
Under the MOU, Planned Parenthood would "Provide a trained health educator to be available for education sessions for Partner clients and staff during the MOU period" and "Provide information about clinical services available at PPPSGV." (agenda)
West Nile: mosquito samples and human cases
The San Gabriel Valley vector district's page reads "Last update: 2026/10/19." It lists 22 positive mosquito samples for Monterey Park, 17 for Alhambra, 13 for Rosemead, 9 for San Gabriel and 9 for Temple City. The district total is 219. (vector district page)
These are mosquito samples, not human cases. The page says "Positive mosquito samples from routine and randomized trapping provide insight into the spread of West Nile virus." (vector district page)
Human cases come from the county. Its Report #11 says LA County Public Health "has documented 249 West Nile virus (WNV) human infections and 12 deaths" in 2026 to date. (report)
The report lists Alhambra, Monterey Park and Rosemead among cities of residence. It does not list San Gabriel or Temple City. Its caution: "Cities do not necessarily indicate places of exposure." (report)

Make sure to check around for free self-service sandbags in your city. El Niño looks like it is upon us, and having sandbags ready now could save you a night out in the rain trying to bag it then. — Pat
